Getting on with the job

The Harris ID Flexiroller is ideal for painting and decorating those hard to reach areas. The glass fibre shaft bends easily so that it can fit into those awkward places.

It includes three different roller sleeves:

Select the woven polyester sleeve for emulsion work.

Use the high density white foam sleeve for gloss work and oil based paints.

The black sleeve helps to smooth down wallpaper in those hard to reach areas.

When it comes to painting walls or ceilings, people traditionally opt for a roller. Harris offer an alternative – the paint pad.

The mohair fabric used on the pad gives a smooth finish and helps to eliminate the risk of roller splatter.

The pads come in a range of shapes and sizes for all manners of jobs.

Whether you are cutting in around a light switch.

Cutting into sharp corners.

The paint pad handle fits onto extension poles for extra reach.

Harris also offer the Painting Bug, the handle of the Painting bug has been designed specifically to fit neatly into the palm for ease of use.

A recent addition to the Harris Intelligent Decorating range is the ID Gel Oval.

The long synthetic filaments of the brush head give a really smooth finish.

The handles have double sided gel pads that encourage you to hold the brush in the most comfortable and correct manner.

The ferrule itself is tapered at the edges of the brush head so that it gives you more control when cutting in.

The ferrule is also stainless steel so there is no chance of the brush rusting when it comes to washing up at the end of the day.

The brushes come in resusable packaging – so at the end of the day you can store your brush safely protecting the filaments.

The ID Gel Oval brush is part of a larger ID Gel range that is all designed for your comfort and ease of use.

Getting on with the job

If you are decorating at home and are using a good quality paint, always use a good quality brush to apply it. The application of paint to the wall is just as important as the paint itself.

If you buy a cheap paint brush you will come upon the same problem again and again. A typical problem of value brushes is splaying bristles –making it very difficult to get a precise finish sometimes the bristles come off all together, how many times have you had to go around getting stray bristle off the walls.

If you buy a quality brush you will find the filaments are longer giving you better paint application and lay off. There is a reduced risk of bristle loss, the handle is designed to fit comfortably into your hand and your cutting in will improve.

Always clean your brushes carefully after use. If you have a natural bristle and look after it, it will actually improve with age giving a smoother finish.

When it comes to roller sleeves there’s often a discussion on which to choose.

If you want to complete the job speedily, use a knitted sleeve as it loads the paint quickly and gives good coverage.

If you are painting an important room such as the lounge or bedroom where you want a perfect finish then opt for a woven sleeve – it provides great coverage and a smooth even finish.
